I Love the Internet

I love the internet. That’s not a secret, really. I wouldn’t have a gaming commentary site if I didn’t. The only thing I love more than the internet is the people they let use it. Yes, the people who use the internet provide me with more entertainment than the rest of the free world combined. A small segment of that population–that is, those who play MMOGs–provide the bulk of my enjoyment. This week’s “I love the Internet” statement is brought to you by Danks.

If you haven’t already heard about the infamous character known as Danks, I will provide you with some undeniable factual facts:

1) Danks logged on to the World of Warcraft forums and commended Blizzard for their new honor system. “Wow I like the honor system and the huge battles. Just increase the Horde guards levels a bit and this game will be about perfect!!!”
2) The first reply, “Yes I agree. PVP action is key.” stated this user’s concurrence with the original poster, Danks.
3) That first reply was written by Danks himself. Danks thought he logged on an alternate character, then posted his agreement with himself.
4) Everyone who was able to figure out how to hurl an insult did so. The monkeys at large had a great laugh at the expense of the poor Danks.
5) Danks pretended that he meant to do it.
6) Nobody believed him.
7) Blizzard locked the thread because it was too awesome.

38 locked pages of laughter later, Danks had a new term and even T-shirts made in honor of his stupidity.

So, Danks, Dank you for being an idiot. I salute you. You and the WoW community made my last 6 days more enjoyable. I love the internet.
