I thought it was pretty decent myself and one of the better done ones these days. However, I disagree with the comment above as I think the Spiderman ones have been the best thus far.
I’ve been involved in a 60+ email Gmail thread between several of my buddies who are also comic book nerds like me, on the subject of the Superman Returns movie. The response range from me and one other guy, who thought the movie was mostly great (I have problems with a couple of the plot-holes you could drive a truck through and the color red the used in the costume and that’s it) to a hard-core “John Byrne Man of Steel era” Superman fan – who *hated* the movie.
It’s been interesting that it’s raised such a wide range of reactions from the bunch of us. Me, my 10 year old kid comes out and goes “WOW!” when I see the “Super-Effects” of Superman in action. So I can tolerate some of the problems that, when I approach the movie from a purely analytical viewpoint, I don’t like. Something I also try to point out to “Mr. Hardcore” is that if you google or Wiki the “Superman Lives” project (previous title for the 5th movie) or else listen to “An evening with Kevin Smith”, you learn how suprising it is that Superman Returns got made at all. And that it got made without having Superman directed by Tim Burton, played by Nick Cage (no diss to Cage, I just don’t think he was right for the role), featuring a chain-smoking Superman all in black who can’t fly and fights a giant spider in the 3rd act.
So yeah, all in all, I was *very* happy with this movie. It gives it’s nods of respect to both Chris Reeves and Richard Donner, which I think is only right.

Meh. It was OK. For a comic book film. I’ve never gone in for that kind of movie (X-Men, Hulk, Spiderman, etc.). They all seem way to cheesey.
Superman Returns was definitely the best of the bunch, though.
