MUD-Dev Is Dead–a Desire for MMO-Dev?
One of those old game discussion lists, MUD-Dev, appears to have died out a while back (given that I stopped getting emails to the list a long time ago and can’t access the website). If this is the case, how many of you would be interested in an MMO-Dev discussion list? I picked up MMO-Dev.com just in case, and created the MMO-Dev Yahoo Group if I decide the discussion lists they offer on my server aren’t up to par.
This is an alternative to forums such as the MMO Round Table, as some people still prefer the ancient method of email discussion. Its purpose would be to talk about massively multiplayer online games as well as their development.
Let me know either in the comments for this entry or via email if you’d participate in such an email discussion list, and if there seems to be a decent amount of interest I’ll get the ball rolling.
Update: Apparently there is a MUD-Dev2 mailing list. It looks semi-inactive, probably because people like me had no idea it existed. Even though that list exists and I’ll probably go ahead and join it, the offer still stands to create and moderate an MMO-Dev mailing list designed specifically for massively multiplayer games. Thanks for letting me know, Charles.

MUD-Dev2 has been fairly active the past couple of weeks. Bartle, Rozak, cruise, and a few other regulars have been fairly talkative on issues relating to “getting your money’s worth from MMOs,” “Risk vs. Reward,” and an article by Bartle titled “MMO’s are for Newbies.”
I believe the new website is: http://mud-dev.com/mailman/listinfo/mud-dev2_mud-dev.com
It could be a matter of perception of who participates and the value of discussions that happen in forums vs mailing lists. (This isn?t my personal view, just throwing it out there as a possible view.)
While I admit that I don?t talk much, I would sign up.
MUD-Dev is Dead?A Desire for MMO-Dev?
I’d definately be interested in an MMO-Dev mailing list.
A bit late, but sure, I’d be interrested.
