I Bought ArchLord
I buy just about every MMO that goes on the market. Here’s my super brief review after playing for about an hour: Umm, why are characters not animating for me? It makes me sad. The server hasn’t crashed since I started playing, so I’m giving it a half thumbs up for the launch based on that. Their site and forums haven’t rolled over to “launch” status yet (everything still looks like it’s in Beta). There’s a bunch of unpolished stuff in the game that makes it still feel very much like Beta. Some of the ideas are kinda cool. The game hasn’t been westernized at all to appeal to us EQ/WoW type gamers. More later.

I beta’d this for a bit, felt really ho hum to me. If I was looking for something to pass the time till some other game came out I’d probably buy it, but as it stands it just seems very very grindy to me. Wife walked in and asked if I was playing WoW when she saw it at first. Like a few of the mechanics of the game. Augmenting items with stones is cool. various quality items have from 0 to who knows slots u can plug things into.
But the model variation made the game look like you were in “Being John Malkovich” in the resturant scene.
Well for one I am glad they took out payplus but from playing this in beta., I felt it wasn’t really finished when they were saying it was releasing in a couple weeks but then again I have yet to be in a beta and felt a game was ready
But if I wanted to play this type of game, I would probably just play Lineage 2 as I found them both the same to me over all.
you fool! you fool!
I Bought ArchLord
What a waste of money.
You fool he says… too funny, actually, I think it’s great that you go out and try just about every MMO that’s released. That way you can let us know what’s good and what’s not and what totally sucks!! Great job.
And at the same time, I am sure you can really spot the flaws, what’s good and what’s down right fantastic and impliment these ideas in any future projects you might be involved in again…. one day….
/em hands Ramrod a gnomish joke detector
I’m still playing. I’m level 12 now, which means I am on the second tier of armor. I’ve completed all the quests in the newbie city so I moved on to the next one. The game isn’t the best I’ve ever played, but it’s an okay diversion from Western MMOs for me. Not sure how long I’ll last because it’s pretty grindy, but we’ll see.
/ Ramrod recieves gnomish joke detector, and shakes it…. makes funny sounds. I don’t get it…… (jk)
I buy just about every MMO that goes on the market.
I assume this means you’ve played Hello Kitty Online? Please say yes…
PS: The only MMO I’m looking forward to is Hero’s Journey. Oh, and Warhammer Online…Maybe.
You bought Archlord? *shudder*
I don’t like to sugar coat things, so here’s my opinion…the game sucks.
I did the beta for about a day to make sure I wasn’t missing some “huge important monster feature”. I wasn’t. It’s a poor man’s version of Guild Wars mixed with a slight amount of other games with a broken interface, poor to terrible movement and animations and lackluster appeal across the board.
I’m not concentrating on any one part of the game, because it’s ALL the same. The leveling scheme to the skills system is almost a complete ripoff of Guild Wars. The animations and playstyle is a copycat of Lineage 2. You can level slightly higher and have an open world system. If after playing L2 and GW you feel the need to play Archlord all power to you, but you get far more bang for your buck out of nearly any other game.
If I had a rating site, I’d rate this a 1 out of 5 for lack of any innovation whatsoever, poor controls, sub-par graphics and animations and sound and finally, for just trying to copy/paste other games without even TRYING to improve on them.
Well, think about the game for a minute. Players fight over the position of all-powerfulness, which ONE player has at a time. ONE PLAYER. Think how many people play MMORPGS…your chances of being the archlord are about…one in ten million. And if you ever get it, you’ll probably be out the next day.
Lame.
