5 Things You Don’t (Want to) Know About Me
I wasn’t sure if I was feeling left out, or if I was incredibly grateful that I hadn’t been tagged yet. Who am I to break a meme that has had a lifetime of roughly two weeks too long? I finally noticed that prognosticator of Virgin Worlds decided to tag me, so I will oblige and do my duty as one of the bloginati by revealing 5 things you don’t (want to) know about me.
1. I went to about 5 years of college. And still don’t have a bachelor’s degree. Yep, I have an associate’s degree in computer programming, and I went to quite enough school temporally to obtain a bachelor’s, but I never got it. I decided to leave school to join Sony Online Entertainment back in 2004.
2. I was the youngest person on the EverQuest II team. Until Caroline, the item girl, joined the team, I was the youngest person on the team by about a year. This proved especially interesting when I became a Lead on the team, because everyone knew how young I was.
3. I was part of a startup called Mountain Man Online Games. And yes, that acronym is intentionally “MMOG.” It was really more a startup that never was, but several of us did sink several months of effort into the creation of a dream, which ended up imploding like most small startups.
4. I did more modding than studying in college. I was pretty big into modding back in the day. The last hardcore modding I did was for Neverwinter Nights, in which I created a semi-popular Wizard’s Chess mod. I also worked quite a bit to make NWN work as a persistent world, going so far as to add factions for players and NPCs (for PvP and joining sides), along with a heck of a lot of other little neat things. That’s actually where I got the idea for the name “MMO Lexicon” (there was an amazing resource for modders called NWN Lexicon.
5. I used to be athletic. I know, you wouldn’t think it, but I used to play sports. I pretty much played all of them, but spent the longest (and most successful) career as an ice hockey player, and I even played football in high school. I stopped playing hockey and football less than a year after Ultima Online came out. Coincidence? I think not.
Now I have to tag 5 other people to keep with the rules of memes. Let’s go with Moorgard (who likely feels he’s above responding), Ashen Temper (because I’m tired of seeing that image when I go there), Steven Davis (because I want him to admit to running a gold farming sweatshop), Aggro Me (because he’s in need of inspiration and because I hate him so), and Cosmik (because he’s gotta have some messed up skeletons in his closet).

I would’ve tagged ya, Ryan, but figured you’d never notice the call from my site.
I’d have noticed. Just because you weren’t on my link list doesn’t mean I don’t go to your site. I actually started using feeds to check up on most sites and didn’t even realize you weren’t linked from here.
You are now!
