I actually liked Massive it wasn’t overloaded with ads and junk. What did they get sued for anyway?

Tinfoil hat wearers would tell you that since Myspace is now part of the evil empire of Rupert Murdoch and News Corp, they don't need 'reasons' to ruin good companies or sue small alternative media outlets into the ground... and they would probably be right.

Myspace is a corporate soapbox now, and if people don;t realize that they have austere capatalistic objectives with owning the site, they are sadly naive. Myspace will continue to trend away from its roots and continue to polute the internet and media circles more each year.

What's worse is I've recently met some editors of the industry magazines and I know that they're good people and have good intentions.... so I guess I need to go give them another try and be more open minded.

Ummm, who cares?

I've truly yet to read a "gaming magazine" that isn't ads in disguise. The only games that get truly objective reviews aren't from major publishers, so it's a one-two combo against indy self-publishing developers.

Sorry to be so negative on the press, but it's one of my pet peeves. They live off of advertising, so they never post a truly bad review of their advertisers.

That stinks. I've had a CGM subscription for almost 12 years now. And I've been enjoying Massive as well.

I wonder if I get a pro-rated return of my subscription fee?

shutting their doors (and their magazines going away with it). It is very unfortunate, and I wish all those involved good luck. There’s a little more on this by former CGM writer Troy Goodfellow. Found at Broken Toys. posted by Ryan Shwayder @ 18:36 Comments Off

Our Supreme Overlord of Snark, the blogger formerly known Lum the Mad, was the first on my blogroll to notice and report on the sudden demise of CGM and Massive/MMO Games… and was even non-snarky about it in deference to the occasion. Nerfbat also followed up on the story. Kinda sad actually: I just got the latest edition of the just-renamed MMO Games yesterday… it wasn’t half bad, I think they were headed in the right direction in terms of content and variety.
