Tales from the Tavern: Volume IV
Our little MMO community at the Nerfbat Forums continues to kick butt and take names. We’ve had a few new members join us over the past week, and a lot of great discussion has taken place. We’re now at 2181 total posts, 165 topics, and 202 members. Since I’m not one to actually give much of a darn about consistency, this post comes on a different day and with a different number of posts featured than normal (alright, there is no normal). Enjoy the round-up.
- Quests vs. Interactive Fiction: What makes a quest a quest? How many quests are there, really, in any given MMO? And we mean real quests, not just kill ten rats. Started by Charles Gill
- Asynchronous Social Gameplay: How do you get players to play “together” without even necessarily being online at the same time? You know, guild systems with an advancement system, player towns, etc. Started by Blackguard via Tuebit
- MMOs: Console vs. Computer: Can the same MMO work well on both the console and the computer? What about the control schemes? Started by Tagrun
- PvP Server Rules: Ever played on a PvP server? If so, how many and what kind of rules do you like? Level restrictions? Karma? No rules like Fansy? Started by Blackguard.
That’s all for this week’s edition of Tales from the Tavern. Head on over to the Nerfbat Forums if you’re interested in talking about massively multiplayer game design or anything related. We look forward to talking to you on the forums.
