The largest problem I face is that I have family and friends who use my domain for email, trying to get them to clean up their email inboxes and save off stuff they want to keep before I switch is a chore. You should definitely back up the database, but you can probably just export the data to a file and import it to WordPress directly (Manage > Export). Truthfully, I'm not sure which is better.
