Nerfbat Podcast Imminent
I’ve actually been working on the podcast, believe it or not. I’ve decided to include a segment in which I answer reader questions about design, myself, the site, or the podcast. No, I won’t answer anything about 38 Studios or “Copernicus.” You can send me an email, contact me on the forums, or just reply to this thread with a question and I might answer it in the podcast.
You can email me at
or send me a PM on the Nerfbat Forums (I’m Blackguard). If you email me an audio clip with your question (as long as it’s short), I’ll likely include that.
Feel free to fire off comments about the site too, and later comments and rants about the podcast itself (I suppose you could send those now, but you’ve never heard a Nerfbat Podcast!).
I’m going to be using my existing hardware (either my Sennheiser gaming headset or a Rock Band mic) for the time being. If the podcast goes well and I get a few more donations, I’ll probably shell out the cash for a good mic setup.
Hooray podcast.
P.S. After seeing Blizzard’s awesome bard hero class April Fools’ joke, I very nearly changed my name to “Blackbard.” Yes, I love bards that much. They are the freaking rule.

Awesome. I’m looking forward to it.
I just added a weekly podcast as well and it’s been a lot of fun to produce. I’m using a Logitech USB mic (the Xbox 360 one) and producing with Audacity. I still have some issues, both tech and process related, but I enjoy the format.
If I ever did a podcast, I think I would need to get a text to voice digitizer to replace me…
So couple podcast type questions, will the podcast be a regular feature, e.g. bi-weekly? Also will you be putting it on iTunes since that’s currently how I get all my podcasts.
So about you, what were the events leading to your joining the games industry, and any tips for new people trying to get into the industry? What does the wife think of all this making a new-fangled virtual world business you’re doing?
Although you said you wouldn’t really talk about it, are you actually helping with the creative design on Copernicus or are you still just on the community side or what exactly do you do in a day at 38?
That’s all the actual quests I have for ya, I’ll get working on trying to think up some hillariously sarcastic ones for the second podcast
I look forward to Nerfcast.
Thanks for the questions. I’ll see if I can answer a couple. As for the 38 question: yeah, I’m a full-time game designer right now, especially with very few community duties at this point in development. I’m a hybrid designer in that I do both content and mechanics (most do one or the other).
