EVE’s “Apocryppahcryppah” Video
Before reading this, watch a little of the Apocryppahcryppah video. Funny? Yes. Would I ever in a million years broadcast this level of developer passion and product investment to the world? Hell no! If, the day after we announce the official title for “Copernicus,” I go to a single director (or above), producer, or marketing person, and they don’t know the name of the game… I will punch them in the face. Scratch that, I will punch any 38 Studios employee in the face if they don’t know the name of our game. A person invested in making a good game would know the title of EVE’s latest expansion, they wouldn’t sit there looking confused.

So when Moorgard shows up sporting a big shiner we’ll know the scoop.
Great. I can see it now.
Ryan: “So, what’s the name of our game?”
Employee 1: “Who the f*ck are you?”
Ryan punches Employee 1 in the face.
Ryan: “Sh*t! I hurt my f*cking wrist again!”
Maybe they should pick a better name for the expansion.
This is a failure of CCP’s marketing department, not their dev team. It’s their fault for choosing a title that no one can pronounce.
OK that is just too funny…
The real story though is that the name is dificult to pronounce. It’s like Koster’s company’s old Aeirieae name. I had only vague ideas how to say it, and still just refer to it as “Koster’s company”
And really even if your team can pronounce it but nobody else can, have you really picked a good name? Imagine going to GDC and handing people a piece of paper with the name on it, and ask them to pronounce it.
If you do punch anyone in the face, can you make sure there is a camera rolling for it, please?
At the very least, you and Moorgard should make a humorous video of you going off and punching an employee for not knowing the name… Maybe a Massive Guys on Massive Games video podcast?
Oh, and speaking of the podcast… *coughs loudly*
What’s a podcast?
Is this a failure of CCP?
This is mockery from CCP. Do you now what is mean “the joke” and “brand of humour “?
