I, Canis Lupus

The madness that is the Darkfall launch has me frothing at the mouth. I want to prey upon the weak both in-game and on blogs. I want to pwnsauce some lolnoobs really hard. Seriously, I do. This game and the crazy posts (Exhibits 1 | 2 | 3 | 4) have turned me back into a wolf. But there are problems that my logical self (ego) keeps thinking about, even though my illogical self (id) wants to ignore those problems and go slice some unsuspecting carebears in half.

What are those problems my ego keeps mentioning? Some of them are internal. I can’t focus as much time and effort on gaming as I once did, which would make it very hard to keep up with the pack. I’m a bit nicer of a person now, so I actually consider the feelings of others when I’m a jerk to them (my co-workers who watched me spend an entire week in Age of Conan horse-kicking people off cliffs might claim otherwise). And, I tend to get really annoyed by rampant cussing and other childlike behavior these days, while back in UO i was one of those leet PK douchebags.

There are also external problems. The most significant problem is that there will be no sheep in Darkfall for the wolves to kill. Everyone who is going to play this game will be in it for the PvP, so there’s nobody for me to pick on. The sheep can just go play one of many other MMOs where they aren’t going to get screwed left and right.

Ah, well. If I ever figure out how the heck to get a copy of Darkfall, I’m going to try it. My id is rabid and ready for blood. I already have a plan that involves focusing significantly on unarmed combat (assuming I can), then heading over to enemy territory naked, picking off someone who is low in health by punching them in the crotchial area, looting their corpse, then using their items. This way I create a zero loss scenario when I’m acting the predator, and might even take home some gear to replace everything I lose when I’m the prey.
