Seriously i played wow since release. on and off from that time to about 5 months ago before this post.
Frankly and i have had this discussion in game so i know im not alone. WoW it self has gotten worse as a game since Wotlk, Vanilla as a few - alot of people think was the way it should have been.

Class's are not meant to be balanced and even, a mage should be out damaging pretty much every thing in my opinion.. as far as AoE's at least. if you know the pharse "Glass Cannon". thats just one example another how ever would be if anyone actually played back in vanilla and remembers how Horde had Shamans as there hero class and alliance had paladins as there hero class. every thing can be every thing now it seems.

and im sorry i know there's a few people out there that work more then one job or have family or just dont have 20 hours a week to invest into a game.. but well here go's, games in general are not meant for you then if you dont have the time to invest then you dont have the time to play, why do you find the time to bitch, whine and generally QQ all over the forums????

There in lies part of the problem now as well WoW seems to me and alot of folks that your almost literally just handed gear now rather then have to work for it.. and ya if as an example i put luts say 4 hours during weekdays and luts say 30+ hours during weekends into a game then YES my gear should be considerably better then yours honestly how is it unfair that i have better gear i put time into earning?

we originally stipulated that we would have liked to see dungeons redone or the addition of redoing some low levels quests because what do you do when you cant raid and your level capped and have the gear you wanted or could get? you start a new character right? originally they had done this before the release of TBC expansion... with the Dungeon set 2 quest line which im sorry if you weren't an ignorant moron and had some spare time it was a really enjoyable quest line. and took a few weeks to actually do even with a "Static" (group you can rely on and regularly level, grind, instances with)

they did start finally redoing some of the dungeons again but to be perfectly honest its to little to late... i turn my subscription off a few months back and honestly have no intention of ever going back all the friends i had made on there have quit or i had never seen them on previous to my quitting permanently.

the Community has gone so far downhill its just not fun to even sit in a city and strike up a conversation any more the supposed "trolls" all say the same things and people still go with it... no of the groups tend to really be enjoyable any more the pugs that is.. pick up groups.. there's far to much Nanjing going on.. (people stealing loots) and there's no repercussions because your likely not going to ever see that person again as i did i would just add them to my ignore list on the slight chance that you would run into them again (them being in your ignore list would prevent you from ever grouping with them again)..

I know that was a huge rant and wall of text almost but i could continue and wont because if you've played since vanilla wow you know exactly what im talking about.

well frankly and i think i speak for a crap load of people out there were tired of the fantasy medieval settings we have had magic and swords and Armour shoved down our throats for as long as mmo's have existed.

yes i know theirs been some forays into other genre's but they failed and miserably because of the genuine lack of effort or time put into those games.

We the average wow player don't want another wow clone im not going to leave a game i have 8+ years invested in at this point... on and off mind you but 8 YEARS! for a game that's got the same play mechanics and lots of boring uninspired questing that really serves no purpose other then to grab an item or money or what have you.

we Like ... nay loved WoW because it made us laugh it made us cry and it genuinely has gotten most of us emotionally involved like any good game out there your character/s become a sort of part of you, you live and grow with them and you certainly wont just leave them for nothing.

I say this from experience by the way i've tryed every and i mean EVERY single Pay to play MmoRpg that's been released since EQ2 and the matrix online. ~~~~

From folks i've spoken with and talked to about game types and things they'd like to see and or play the obvious is a StarCraft MMORPG but yah right on that one .... as well how ever people crave something new with a different theme some folks liked Star Trek online for example my self .. i thought it was a extremely lame attempt at what could have easily been my "Wow killer" i have high hopes for Fallout online as well As Knights of the old republic online.

If they F**K it up then ill be back on wow.... Again.. and i really really don't want to go back any more. i simply cant find anything worth staying with.

I will agree that WoW is WoW's worst enemy. I spent the last 18 Months playing WoW comming from the EQ franchise. WoW has an easy learning curve. the game is entirely soloable by any class and the game was enjoyable up until WoTLK. Since WoTLK WoW has been strife with constant changes and class nerfs. The paladin has become overall the best class in the game in both PVE and PVP. I left in June only to hear that even more massive game changes are on the horizon. I returned to EQ2 to find that over the last 18 month the game has seen many positive changes that make the game fun and engaging and even more fun to play than WoW. but back to the WoW killer no single game will kill WoW but Aion, SWTOR, Warhammer 40k and farther down the road now in early devolopment EverQuest Next will each combined cut WoW down to size. There is a WoW killer IP out there but no devoloper has yet stepped upto the plate to tackle the project of its complexity. The IP has it all both sci fi and fantasy and would be the MMO to end all MMO's. That IP is Rifts and whatever devoloper can bring that IP to market will have the next WoW in its hands if its done right, if done wrong it will be another SWG. Rifts has the most potential of any ip to dominate the market place

I agree with you on the wow killer being wow, it has a burn out quality to it these days. But IMO....

Wow will keep on chugging. For now it's got the ease for solo play, something for everyone..raiding, pvp.. trades.. flying mounts ect. Fun things people want in a game and stuff to keep you busy. I do admit it gets to be a burn out at times, esp with all the nerfs and fotm class crap. Rerolling and leveling up again is quite the bore.. But people keep coming back.

The only thing that will really make a dent IMO would be a better mmo. So far nothing has been impressive when compared to wow. The two latest games that were supposedly to be the wow killers are have shut down/ merged a large amount of their servers due to lack of players sadly. But who knows whats to come. I never see it going free either... Why?

People said the sky was falling in Everquest five years ago. It's going on 10+ years now and people still play it, they still pay subscriptions and expansions come out every year. There have been dramatic changes to the game and even a cash shop feature. It's still got a lot of life left in it yet. It has nostalgia tied to it for a lot of players, and it's got a ton of content for newer players. Although a steeper learning curve than most games out there, it may not be competition for other games these days but it has made it's mark just as WoW has.

So while people get bored, burnt out... there's those who do quit for good. But after taking a break, it just always seems the best thing on the market. Nothing else really offers what wow does in the mmo world.

I'm not the wow cheerleader I may come across to be. I do play and like wow, but I do also wish there was more of a selection of games that could hold up to the quality of wow. I try everything new that comes out, fee included but nothing really has caught me like Everquest or WoW did. I would love to see another mmo come out that can compete, but currently Blizzard still has the edge here.

I find it quite interesting to see the mix of reactions here. Some people assume I meant that WoW was in the act of killing itself, while others assume I meant that WoW is the only game that can kill WoW. I stated the latter, and believe the latter. The former... well, it seems like some people believe it. ;)

Ha ha, yeah... <a href="http://word-of-shadow.blogspot.com/2008/11/when-will-wow-die.html" rel="nofollow">When will WoW die?</a>

I actually don't think it will die. Even when Blizzard stop making expansions for it, they can still flop the big 'Free to Play' card onto the table and bring a few million players back. SW:TOR and Guild Wars 2 will punch a hole in it's subscriber numbers, but nothing compared to Blizzard's next MMO. Which makes me think that Blizzard have a combined subscriber fee up their sleeve... Diablo 3, WoW and Blizzard's next MMO. Good luck to any MMO company in beating that.

I am tired of wow lately myself but I don't know if that's what he means. I think he's talking about how only wow can do itself in. Other games won't do mcuh damage to wow itself.
