Before I go into any 2010 predictions, let’s take a look at my predictions from last year. I diverged from my tradition of safe bets, and went with more specific predictions (and many more of them) than ever before. How’d I do? Read beyond the break. Continue Reading »
I hope everyone has wonderful holidays this year and an incredible 2010. I’m enjoying myself out in Colorado for 3 weeks this year, letting the creative batteries recharge (perhaps replacing the old alkalines with lithium?). And, of course, consuming as much Mexican food and microbrewed beer as I can. Keep your holidays safe, relax, and look forward to a fresh start in 2010.

We’re currently hiring for a bunch of different positions at 38 in both Maynard and Baltimore. If you’re a game developer and are looking for a position at an awesome company, take a look at the 38 Studios Jobs listing and see if any fit. Even if none do, send in your resume and we’ll take a look; we’re always looking for great people.
“The untapped genre of MMO with the highest potential, what is it?” - Sarymbo. Can I cop out and say that all genres have been tapped to some degree? No? Then I’ll give two answers instead. The first is the open world fantasy/sci-fi MMO. UO and SWG are both dated, and there are no mainstream titles of the same lineage out right now (EverQuest has WoW, UO never got a rightful heir). The second would be the MMOFPS. I believe there’s significant potential for the genre, and many FPSes are very close to MMO as it is. PlanetSide is dated, so it doesn’t fill this slot for me anymore.
