Wait, What?
I’m not going to specifically comment on Blizzard making an in-game mount available for digital purchase, or even how it can both fly and run at high speeds (it can even run in places where flying mounts aren’t allowed). I won’t even elaborate on the absurdity of a 100,000+ queue with a 7+ hour wait time. That’s dangerous ground to tread on. What’s not dangerous is letting it speak for itself. “Please note that being in the queue does not guarantee that you will have the opportunity to purchase an item. Once you have reached the front of the line you will be sent to checkout, at which point you will have 15 minutes to complete your transaction.” Image beyond the break.

a que to by an in game item?
and then not knowing if you will be allowed to buy it or not?
did anyone bother to tell Blizzard that April fools day is long past?
limiting the number sold is….good and bad…good that the game does not get flooded..
it draws more people who Just have to get that one of a kind ( sorta) item.
and bad, if I go from the figure in the picture…if there is only 10% left…then blizzard is missing out on
$2,133,275.00 in sales IF they just sold those 85331 people who are still waiting
The queue stemmed from them selling BlizzCon tickets on the site. It just keeps the checkout usable.
There aren’t a limited number. They put X number of codes into the store. If those get low they just add more.
I did buy one last night. There were about 20k people in queue and the site listed 4 hour wait. But really it took about 15 mins to get through the queue.
I just found this out on a forum…and thought it summed up what most player’s are thinking who are now in that long que waiting.
Even those who have spend up to 12 months in game after those Rare raid dropped mounts..
I quote
” It’s a friggin Pegasus dude… made from stars.”
end quote
its the stars man….hey it works for Lucky Charms cereal why not a mount?
Since I don’t play WoW I would generally ignore this sort of topic. However I’ve been reading the thread on this on Broken Toys…apparently The Sky is Falling and gaming-as-we-know-it-has-been-destroyed.
I wonder what cut of the profit the person who thought up and implemented the pegasus mount got. or if he/they got a cut at all.
Sky can’t be falling that much or else 100,000+ people wouldn’t have bought these things.
I got it the day after it was released and there was no queue at all. I’d guess the wording is built into the store’s ‘queue’ functionality because some things they sell (like blizzcon tickets) might be limited quantity, and just because you are in the queue doesn’t mean you will actually get to buy one.
It’s like trying to buy Red Sox tickets the day they go on sale. You log in to the virtual waiting room and pray that you get picked before all the tickets are sold.
