Thanks to the generosity of the fine folks at the GuildCafe Alliance, Nerfbat is now hosted on a lightning fast server. As such, I no longer need donations for server upgrades! So, why is the donation page still around? Well, for two reasons:

  • I started a podcast, and the microphone and hardware to hook it up to the computer weren’t cheap. Some people have already donated, but it hasn’t been paid off yet.
  • If you really enjoy Nerfbat and want to help keep me motivated to post, I’d still really appreciate your donations (maybe I can upgrade my Basic Cable!). :)

There are two ways that I can get more money for podcasting equipment: You can donate to me directly, or sign up with Dreamhost and I’ll get some money for the referral.

Secondly, I’ve set up a referral program via my old web host (which I still use for a couple sites). I get some money if I refer you to Dreamhost. If you sign up and use the promo code “NERFBAT” (without the quotes), you will get $20 off. If you sign up for a monthly account (as opposed to yearly or longer), that’s $10.95 (monthly) + $49.95 (setup fee) - $20 = $40.90.

What do you get for that? A free domain name registration, 500 GB of storage, 5 TB of bandwidth (both of which increase weekly), and a heck of a lot more. You also get a one-click install of a lot of popular web apps like WordPress (which I use for the blog), phpBB (which I use for the forums), MediaWiki, Gallery, and others.   • Your name on the Nerfbat Forums will be a special color, indicating that you’re a loyal Nerfbat reader.
